PEDAGOGY DOES MATTER.. !!

PEDAGOGY ..???

At my first class of pedagogy I did not have any idea on what this course is actually about. But throughout the face to face session I learn a lot of things regarding pedagogy course.

PEDAGOGY revolves around the teaching methods that teachers should use in their teaching process in order to make those teaching and learning process become effective as well. PEDAGOGY heads me towards the real world of teaching whereby I learnt how to make an effective lesson plan and also involved in mock teaching session. This situation bring me to the real world of teaching after three semesters..

At first , I thought that teaching is a very easy thing but my thought was absolutely wrong..!!! Teaching is a profession which consists a lot of important skills in it. PEDAGOGY IS ONE OF IT..

In between learning those skills , I also learnt classroom management which is very a important skill to manage a classroom in future as well. As a future educator, I learnt the do's and don'ts of creating an effective lesson plan, classroom management and also mock teaching session.

Finally , I should thank my beloved lecturer Madam Ng Huey Zher who was the course leader of this course.  It was a great honor to have her as our lecturer. The way you fulfill all your responsibilities as a lecturer in our class make to feel impressed as well. Thank a lot for your guidance in making us to understand the course clearly madam.... :) *.*

Last but not least , my beloved classmates... I should thank you guys a lot as you all had helped me throughout this semester especially in pedagogy class,. Thank a lot my deariess....:) *.*

9th REFLECTION

MOCK TEACHING ~ THINGS THAT CAN BE AVOIDED..?? 0_O

In this post , I would like to share about my opinion on what things should be avoided during mock teaching..
Teachers are the head of classroom , they are responsible for their teaching and learning session as well. These are the some things that a teacher should avoid during his or her teaching session in classroom..

• TOO MUCH OF PAPERS IS NOT A GOOD IDEA ~.~

Teachers must not always use a lot of papers which consists of notes and exercises as well.  This situation will lead students to feel so bored to learn. So, use the board, interact with students and never rely on paper to explain every thing to students.

• ONLY FOLLOW BOOKS #.#

Sometimes teachers fall into the trap of teaching everything directly from the textbook as well, This is not only boring, it is doing your students a disservice too.. If teachers only focus on what the books dictates, the students might miss a lot. So, be sure that you are connecting your activities to the book but not solely doing everything from only one source.

• MOBILITY *.*

Most of the teachers just like to attach themselves with whiteboard in front of classroom. If teachers just attached with whiteboard, most of the students freely can tune out. To prevent this situation from happening, teachers should move around the classroom while teaching. So that, students will keep on concentrating on what teacher is trying to teach them as well.

These are the things that should be avoided by teachers while teaching in classroom. In between , teachers also must use a lot different ways to teach their lesson. This situation will lead to attract students interest towards that particular lesson..  *.*

8th REFLECTION

MY FAVORITE... *.*

Mock teaching was one of the most challenging assignment to all of us. Even tough it seems like to difficult , but my classmates manage to come up with a lot of creative ideas to make their teaching session become attractive as well.

Well , this is a right time where I can share with you all about my personal favorite mock teaching session.. I choose Dens Lee's mock teaching as my favorite mock teaching session. But why I choose his mock teaching session ...?? 0_o

Dens Lee's mock teaching was quit creative compared to others mock teaching. He choose economic as his major subject so he also prefer to teach economic chapter 1 in classroom that day. As a future educator, he did not use any technologies in his teaching but he try to capture student' interest by making some creative stuffs that related to his teaching session. 

These are the creative ideas used by my classmate for his mock teaching. He did not depend to usage of technologies in his teaching session but he came up with this kind of idea as well. As normal teachers will use presentations to explain their topics but once he came up with different kind of teaching material it really attracts students' towards his teaching and learning session. He also gave a very good explanation about each and every thing stated in that particular topic. At the same time, he also provide students with a very attractive hand-out which consists of notes and some exercises in it.
Once he teach certain points , he asked the students to complete the given exercises so that it will make the students to understand that particular teaching item very well.

Finally his approach in this mock teaching really impressed me a lot. I also learnt that teaching and learning session can be more attractive and creative by doing own hand made presentation in classroom. I also prefer to use this approach in future to my beloved students *.*

7th REFLECTION

MOCK TEACHING ?? 0_O

In my opinion, mock teaching is a process  whereby students who are future educator should plan a very clear lesson plan for selected subject and teach others in classroom according to what they had planned.
Even it seems like uncomfortable to the new comers , mock teaching is the single most beneficial activity that every student must practice to prepare themselves for future as well. *.*


FEELING .??? 0_O  O_0

MOCK TEACHING is the most nervous part that I felt throughout this semester as well. I feel nervous as I should do my mock teaching by next week..
Even I feel nervous , I still want to do my best in this presentation. So, I just tried my level best to complete my lesson plans in a very clear manner. This mock teaching will help me to do my practicum in future later. Therefore , as a first step I started to do my lesson plan. This is because lesson plan is the guideline for a educator to teach effectively in classroom.
In my lesson plan , I explained in details what I'm going to teach in classroom including with the notes , exercises and also homework that I gonna provided to my students as well.




Finally , I hope that the notes that I provided to my students will help them to understand more clearly about that particular topic as well. At the same time, they also can get a clear picture of what they are going to study too. *.*

• On the other hand , I hope that the exercise that I will provide to my students will help me to identify whether they understood or not what I got taught them in classroom.This will make me to feel easy to categorized my students as well *.*

In addition , I also will provide homework to my students so that they can enhance their skills in that particular topic as well. By providing homework to my students , they can refresh their mind again on what they have learnt in classroom.

6th REFLECTION

CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT O_o

Well as a future educator , I should know what is meant by classroom management ..??

In my opinion, classroom management is a process where teachers should create and maintain appropriate behavior of students in classroom settings, The main purpose of classroom management is to enhance students academic engagement.

As a Form 2 class teacher , what rules should I implement in my classroom in order to make a good learning situation..??

Here goes some of the rules that I prefer to be implemented in my classroom :-

• ALWAYS SHOW RESPECT FOR EVERYONE IN CLASSROOM 

Students in classroom should respect each other as well. They are encouraged to treat people how they want to be treated. At the same time , wait your turn .! Don't talk when other student is giving out their opinions or views to teacher. When in doubt , student should feel brave to ask questions towards teachers.

• BE ON TIME 

Students must be in classroom on time , They also must come to class regularly and not be tardy. They should be in classroom and seated by bell each day. Those who are not in their seat on time will be counted as tardy. Student who counted as tardy will be handled according to school policy.

• STAY ON TASK !!

FOCUS..!! Its is very important in very classroom. Student should follow all the instructions and directions given by teachers during teaching process. Don't talk with others while teachers are presenting their lesson in classroom. Don't leave classroom without getting permission from teacher in classroom. 

• NO FOOD AND DRINKS IN CLASSROOM

There is strictly no food and drinks in classroom. Student is only allowed to use canteen to eat and drink during recess time as well. Don't chew gum in classroom or even in front of teachers in classroom. Do not bring drinks to classroom.This is because cleanliness is very important in maintaining a conducive environment to students and also teachers.

• HAVE A POSITIVE ATTITUDE 

Student are encouraged to have a positive attitude always in their self. Positive attitudes are such as hope , courage , hardworking , passion and so on.Students also must respect other classmates feeling every time. In addition , students must follow all the classroom rules and also school rules..!!

Finally , these are the rules that I prefer to be implemented in my classroom. I hope that these rules will make a good conducive environment to my beloved students to study well in classroom,, :)

5th REFLECTION

POWER POINT PRESENTATION.. ???

Hello hi everyone.. I'm so glad to meet you all after such a long period of time.. You all most probably will think what I'm going to share this time in my blog..??

This time I'm going to explain about how to make effective power point presentation for teaching and learning session in classroom.

Effective Power Point Presentation ..?? 0_o

Power point presentation can be done in various methods that can attract the readers' mind as well.
So let see what are the methods used normally.??

•  Not too colorful backgrounds for the slides
• Don't use clip arts or cartoon pictures but you are encouraged to use pictures related to that selected topics,
• Don't always start the presentation with notes but you can start off with different kind of approach whereby students can guess the topic that going to be taught.
• Use proper font styles and font size.
• Use important parts only.
• Don't cramp everything in one slides . If can elaborate one point in one slides clearly.
• Make it as local as possible . Encouraged to use Malaysian style of examples rather than giving examples about outsiders.

Well , these are the seven important points that should be given priority when doing power point presentation to students in classroom. 

These points can help teachers to complete their power point presentation in a very good manner. At the same time, these tips also can attract students' interest towards selected topics as well.. *.*

THIS TIME I'M GOING TO SHARE WITH YOU ALL ABOUT WHAT I LEARNT IN PLANNING A LESSON PLAN..

This time I would like to share with you all about what is the important part in a lesson plan..??

As a future mathematics teacher, I think that the teaching and learning session in the classroom is the most important part in creating a good lesson plan.

As a good educator , we should prepare a good lesson plan. This is because , lesson plan will guide us to conduct a good teaching and learning session in classroom..

You may asked why teaching and learning session is important in making a lesson plan ..??

Here goes my answer for this question...

In my opinion , teaching and learning session is very important in delivering a lesson to our beloved students. So that , teachers should give more focus to the material used to teach students at classroom. At the same time , teachers also must provide an interesting situation to students to study so that they will feel more comfortable and give concentration in classroom during teaching and learning session,

To make the teaching and learning session become successfully , teachers should use creative techniques to attract students' interest towards their lesson..

So here goes some of the methods that teachers can use in their lesson plan strategy ..

1. Gaming and simulation
2. Flash cards
3. Music
4. Jigsaw method
5. Problem solving method
6. Group discussion

3rd REFLECTION

• Is a teacher's detailed description of the course.
• Is a guide for teachers to teach in classroom.
• Is a framework for a lesson.

Oh ... Yeah now I understood the real meaning of lesson plan.. *.*

Let's discuss how to create a good lesson plan that will be used in teaching and learning session..

As a future educator , I will follow certain steps in order to create a good lesson plan for my beloved students. The steps are as follows:-

• Introduction
• Materials
• Learning Objectives
• Learning Outcomes
• Teaching Methods
• Language Used
• Reflection
• Conclusion

Last but not least , each and every good things in this world will provide us with a lot of benefits. LESSON PLAN also gives us a lot of benefits. Before I end my 3rd reflection , these are the benefits of lesson plan as well :-

1. provides a coherent framework for smooth efficient teaching.
2. help teachers to be more organised .
3. gives a sense of direction in relation to the syllabus.
4. provides a useful basis for future planning.
5. help teachers to be more confident when delivering the lesson.
6. help teachers to plan lessons which cater for different students.

Hello Everyone.. I'm Back In Action Again After Completing My First Chapter Discussion In Classroom. So now its time to share all my views about the first chapter that we had discussed in classroom.

" MATHEMATICS IS A TRUE LOVE  - A SIMPLE IDEA BUT CAN GET COMPLICATED "

As a future Mathematics teacher , I should choose a best theory of teaching to my beloved students so that they will start to love mathematics...



After discussing the three learning theories, I prefer to choose COGNITIVE LEARNING THEORY in order to make my subject looks more creative and attractive too. As we all know, most of students hate mathematics because of its formulas , ways of calculation, problem solving questions and so on. 
Therefore , I think that using COGNITIVE LEARNING THEORY in classroom can attract students attention towards Mathematics.

Well what is meant by COGNITIVE LEARNING THEORY ..??

When we said the word "Learning" , we usually means " to think using brains ". 
This basic concept of learning is the main viewpoint in the Cognitive Learning Style.
This theory implies that with effective cognitive processes , learning is easier and new information can be stored in the memory for a long time.

COGNITIVE strategies are useful tools in assisting students with learning problems, The term "cognitive strategies" in its simplest form is the use of the mind to solve a problem or even to complete a task. I choose this theory of learning for my subject is mainly because this theory provides a structure of learning when a task cannot be completed through a series of steps. This theory enable students to support the learner as he or she develops internal procedures which makes them to complete their tasks easily.

NOW LET ME SHARE WITH YOU ALL, WHAT WILL BE THE WAYS THAT I PREFER TO USE AS A TEACHING TOOL TO MY LOVELY STUDENTS BASED ON COGNITIVE LEARNING THEORY...!!!

First and foremost , I will use INFORMATION PROCESSING METHOD..

How I'm going to use this method in my classroom...???

• INFORMATION PROCESSING METHOD is a way where to access and keep information in memory.

BUT how exactly does this happen...???

1. For example , there will be slow learners in each and every classroom. When the slow learners start to read the questions provided in Mathematics , they started to receive sensory information from the question as well. 
2. At the same time , when they taking in information and details of the questions, they started to understand the ways of solving that mathematical problems. 
3. Once they understood the ways , it will be stored in their short term memory..

So that , as a future mathematics teacher , I will keep on giving my students same questions on that particular topic therefore they will feel familiar to complete that problem as the ways will be stored in long term memory..

Last but not least , INFORMATION PROCESSING METHOD will be the best way in COGNITIVE LEARNING THEORY to teach my beloved students in order to gain their interest towards Mathematics world..

" IF A CHILD DOESN'T LEARN THE WAY YOU TEACH , THEN TEACH HIM THE WAY HE LEARNS "

WHAT IS A BLOG .?
At its heart , blogging is about sharing your knowledge with the world. Choosing a topic that you are passionate about makes the process of starting a successful blog so much easier..

I am not ashamed to admit that when I was first learning how to build a blog I made a ton of mistakes. Once I start to understand the main ways of creating a blog then I feel so easy to create a good blog as well,  In fact, the entire process comes down to just these four steps only :-

• Choose a name for blog
• Install your blog (takes 15-20 min)
• Customize your blog design and layout
• Write your first blog post..!!

Finally , I successfully create my amazing educator blog.. *.*

Once complete creating my blog, then I proceed to download Windows Live Writer 2011. It is a part of Windows Live Essential. It is mainly used for even simpler way to post blogs directly to your blogging site.

Last but not least , what I learnt from all these as a future educator is that I should be updated with current issues and technologies so that I can lead my students to be creative and also innovative as well. Other than that , I also can make sure that my students also be updated with all the current new technologies.
At the same time , I also got to know that teaching and learning process not only in a reciprocal way. But it should be in two way communication whereby teacher and student can share their knowledge and skills with one another. Therefore, the teaching and learning process will be in an effective way and students also will feel energetic to participate in classroom teaching and learning process.
So, these are the lesson that I learnt from this week face to face session in classroom,,
